Who usually wears 2.4?
A 2.4 bangle slides over a folded hand of about 17.0 to 18.0 cm (6.7 to 7.1 inches) around the knuckles. That covers a large share of adult women, which is why 2.4 and 2.6 are the sizes stocked most in bangle shops. You are likely a 2.4 if:
- your ring size is around US 5–6.5 (UK J–M);
- standard “small” or “medium” bracelets fit you comfortably;
- a 2.6 bangle slides off easily over your hand when your arm hangs down.
2.4 vs 2.6: which should I buy?
This is the most common sizing question we get. The two sizes are only 3.1 mm apart in diameter, about 1 cm around the inside. Use these rules:
- If your hand measurement is under 17.8 cm, buy 2.4.
- If it is 17.8–18.0 cm, you are at the top of 2.4. Choose 2.4 for openable bangles and glass sets, 2.6 for rigid gold or silver bangles you will put on and take off daily.
- Over 18.0 cm, 2.4 will not pass your knuckles: buy 2.6.

2.4 bangle size worked example
Sana measures around her folded hand with a thread and gets 17.4 cm. Dividing by π gives 17.4 ÷ 3.1416 = 5.54 cm, the smallest opening her hand can pass through. The first size at least that wide is 2.4 (5.72 cm), leaving about 1.8 mm of clearance – enough to slide on without soap, snug enough not to fall off. Size 2.2 (5.40 cm) would be too small.
How to check a bangle you already own
